BILLS @ RAVENS 9/29/24
The Baltimore Ravens are eager to show that they can still compete with AFC teams like the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are one of five 3-0 teams in the NFL. The Ravens will have a big advantage when they play on Sunday night in Baltimore: Lamar Jackson is excited about the team's second annual "Darkness Falls" game, a college-style stadium blackout.
The Dallas Cowboys lost to the Ravens (1-2) last Sunday. Baltimore let a 22-point lead slip away in the fourth quarter before winning 28-25. In the last two games, Baltimore has been outscored 32-7 in the fourth quarter.
The Ravens had 274 rushing yards against the Cowboys. Derrick Henry accounted for 151 of them and scored his first two touchdowns in Baltimore. Justice Hill gained 33 yards on five carries in addition to Jackson's 87 yards and touchdown run. Head coach Jim Harbaugh likes the 1-2 punch of Henry and Jackson.
Pass rusher Yannick Ngakoue was added to the practice squad earlier this week by the Ravens as they continue to make adjustments to their defense. Ngakoue has 69 career sacks under his belt for six different teams. Nine of those sacks came in 2020 when Ngakoue played for Baltimore.
With their dominant 47-10 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night, the Bills lead the league in point differential at plus-64. They rank in the top 10 in total defense (286.7 yards allowed per game), passing defense (168.3), and scoring defense (16 points per game). Their turnover differential is plus-5, with only Green Bay's being worse.
One week after RB James Cook won the award for his three-touchdown performance against the Miami Dolphins, Buffalo QB Josh Allen was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week. Gregory Rousseau of Buffalo won AFC Defensive Player of the Week in Week 1 after recording three sacks. Allen leads an offense that scores 37.3 points per game. On Monday night, he exploited the Jaguars, throwing four touchdowns before the half.
The Bills placed rookie offensive lineman Tylan Grable on injured reserve due to a groin injury. Linebacker Terrel Bernard (pec) and cornerback Taron Johnson (forearm) are also out for Sunday's game. CB Kaiir Elam participated fully in practice on Friday and is listed as healthy going into the game.
The offensive line for the Ravens is injured. Despite missing practice on Wednesday, center Tyler Linderbaum (knee) recovered to practice the rest of the week and is now listed as questionable. CB Jalyn Armour-Davis (hamstring) was ruled out, and left guard Andrew Vorhees (ankle) is questionable.
The Bills have triumphed over the Ravens in their last two meetings, including a divisional-round triumph in the 2020–21 season.
