Browns vs Saints ( CLE -1. 44.5)

Cleveland vs. New Orleans | Sunday, November 17, 2024
The Cleveland Browns and New Orleans Saints will do battle in the early portion of our Week 11
slate, with both teams struggling at the bottom of their respective divisions. The reality is, that
we are at the point of the season where many teams start to become irrelevant, and the
outcome of this game stands to impact the 2025 draft order more than this season’s playoff
standings.
The New Orleans Saints became the latest team to benefit from the ever-reliable interim coach
bump, earning a shock victory over the NFC South-leading Atlanta Falcons. New Orleans
enjoyed a 20-17 victory, thanks to 109 yards and two touchdowns from new signing Marquez
Valdes-Scantling, in a game that could’ve been an even bigger win had Alvin Kamara not
dropped a long touchdown, and had Taysom Hill not had an 88-yard touchdown wiped off for a
soft penalty.
Given that New Orleans had lost to the Panthers just one week prior and only put up a total of
18 points against both the Chargers and Broncos, it is unlikely that this is the start of a
miraculous turnaround. The win against the Falcons was fun, but it’s hard to imagine Derek Carr
and his crew of previously unknown receivers having success against the Cleveland Browns.
While this has been an incredibly underwhelming season for the Browns, they still have Myles
Garrett along the defensive line, who has the ability to take over a game at any given moment.
He has seven sacks this season, including three against the Chargers in his most recent outing.
When the Browns are on offense, fans will, once again, be treated to the unpredictable but
entertaining Jameis Winston. The former Buccaneers quarterback filled fans with hope by
passing for 334 yards and three touchdowns in an upset victory over the Baltimore Ravens in
his first game filling in for Deshaun Watson, but followed it up with a three-interception
performance against the Chargers last time out. The good news for Winston is that this New
Orleans defense is conceding 244.6 passing yards per game, which is the fourth worst in the
NFL.
Cleveland fans will be hoping to see Winston continue to support the emerging sophomore wide
receiver Cedric Tillman, who has been brilliant ever since he took over the X-receiver role from
the departing Amari Cooper. In those three games, Tillman has accumulated 255 yards and
three touchdowns, and he should be able to add to that in this advantageous matchup.
At 2-7, the season is all but over already for the Cleveland Browns, who are five wins behind the
Steelers at the top of the AFC North. Cheering on the development of Cedric Tillman and this
year’s rookie class should now be the priority, as Deshaun Watson’s hefty cost against the
salary cap means that they are going to be the most important pieces in rebuilding this team
next year and beyond.
