Arizona vs. Seattle | Sunday, November 24, 2024

An NFC West showdown between the Cardinals and Seahawks will have a major impact on the division standings and the race for the title. The Cardinals currently hold a one-game lead at 6-4, with the Seahawks, Rams, and 49ers all closely trailing at 5-5. Over the past six weeks, the Cardinals have been one of the hottest teams in the NFL, going 5-1 and turning around a season that appeared to be doomed following a 1-3 start.

Meanwhile, the Seahawks began the season strong at 3-0 but have struggled since, losing three straight and hovering around .500 ever since. With the Seahawks riding high after their Week 11 win and the Cardinals in the midst of a 6-1 run, both team will bring their A-game to this critical matchup that could ultimately decide the fate of the NFC West.

The Cardinals boast the 5th-best rushing offense in the NFL, with James Conner and Kyler Murray combining for an impressive 149.4 rushing yards per game and 5.2 yards per carry. Murray’s dual-threat ability has been a key factor in opening up the passing game, allowing rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. to emerge as one of the top young receivers in the league. The Ohio State product has racked up 500 yards in 10 games, averaging 15.5 yards per catch and making the most of every opportunity. Despite Harrison's strong rookie campaign, tight end Trey McBride leads the team in receiving yards with 552, ranking 3rd among all tight ends, trailing only George Kittle and Brock Bowers. The dynamic playmaking of McBride, Harrison, and Murray’s legs creates constant pressure on opposing defenses, making the Cardinals a dangerous and versatile offense.

The Seahawks were the talk of the league through the first three weeks of the season. However, a few losses (including an overtime divisional defeat to the Rams) left them at 4-5 and struggling to find momentum. But last week, Seattle bounced back in a big way with a crucial win over the 2023 Super Bowl runners-up, the San Francisco 49ers, to get their season back on track.

Geno Smith orchestrated a clutch 11-play, 80-yard touchdown drive with just over 2:30 remaining, capping it off with a 13-yard scramble to put the Seahawks ahead with 12 seconds left. The dramatic finish reignited their playoff hopes and reminded everyone of their potential.

While Geno Smith has delivered clutch performances this season, including game-winning drives against the Patriots and 49ers, he still ranks among the bottom five in turnover rate, with 7 interceptions in their losses compared to just 4 in their wins. The Seahawks’ offense is middle of the pack in points per game (23.0 PPG), which makes ball security even more crucial, as they don’t possess the same explosive firepower as teams like the Lions or Bills. For Seattle, the formula is straightforward: control the time of possession and protect the ball. If they can do that, they’ll have a good chance to control the game. However, if Kyler Murray and the red-hot Arizona offense (5th in PPG over the last three games) are given extra opportunities, they will capitalize, as Murray is leading one of the league’s most dynamic offenses.
