Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders Will travel to New Orleans this Sunday to take on the Saints. The Commanders are coming off of a full week of rest, while the Saints are hoping to start a new win streak after their narrow 14-11 victory in New York. While the Saints playoff hopes practically vanished after their 2-7 start to the season, they have since won three of their last four and look to be improving. Meanwhile, Washington is eager to secure a trip to the postseason, sitting at 8-5 in the NFC and looking to lock up a wild card spot.

The Commanders' offense has been one of the best stories of the 2024 NFL season, and rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels has been an absolute stud. Daniels and the Washington passing attack rank seventh best in the NFL in yards per pass at 7.8 and hold the fourth-highest completion percentage across the league at 69.85%.

Even with Austin Ekeler sitting on IR with a concussion, the Commander's run game should look strong against the Saint's defense. The Washington ground attack led by Brian Robinson has been quite effective, with Robinson rushing for 103 yards and a touchdown in their 42-19 victory over the Titans in week 13. Washington ranks third in the NFL in rushing yards per game with 156.9 and third in rushing touchdowns per game with 1.8.

Their defense hasn't been stellar, but it has been good enough to win eight games this season. While Washington holds one of the statistically worst rushing defenses in the NFL, it does hold opponents to just 190.7 passing yards per game, the fifth-best in the league. Unfortunately for the Commanders, though, they'll be defending a Saints offense that loves to run the ball. New Orleans averages just under 29 rushing attempts per game, the seventh most in the NFL. They also average a mighty 128.7 rushing yards per game, led by Alvin Kamara, who has already totaled 938 yards and six touchdowns on the ground this season.

Their passing game this Sunday is questionable, as Derek Carr suffered a hand injury and is currently week-to-week, meaning backup Spencer Rattler could get the start against Washington. Rattler hasn't exactly impressed this season, playing mediocre at best in his limited appearances, completing 59 of his 99 pass attempts for 571 yards, throwing two interceptions, and just one touchdown. His most recent appearance came against the Los Angeles Chargers, where the former South Carolina standout completed 12 of his 24 pass attempts for 156 yards and zero touchdowns. New Orleans would go on to lose that game 26-8.

While the Saints currently have less than a 1% chance to make the playoffs, this game still holds some weight. If Rattler gets the start and secures his first win, it could offer up a glimmer of hope for the future of the quarterback position in New Orleans.
