New York Giants vs. Pittsburgh | Monday, October 29, 2024
In Russell Wilson's team debut last week, the Pittsburgh Steelers scored their most points in nearly three years. For the second consecutive week, Pittsburgh will host a New York team during prime time when the Giants come to town.
Last Sunday night was Wilson's first start of the season for the 5-2 Steelers. Pittsburgh defeated the New York Jets 37–15 under the leadership of the former Super Bowl champion. Wilson, who missed the season's first few games due to a calf injury, threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns on 16 of 29 passing and added a rushing score as the Steelers scored the game's final 31 points.
Wilson replaced Justin Fields, who started the season's first six games and did a respectable job. When asked if Wilson would start in the Giants game, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said that Wilson was scheduled to take first-team reps in Wednesday’s practice. In consecutive weeks, Najee Harris scored a touchdown and amassed over 100 rushing yards for the Steelers.
During their current two-game losing streak, the Giants (2-5) have scored 10 points overall, but their offense isn't changing all that much. This week, Giants co-owner John Mara stated that he has no intention of firing general manager Joe Schoen or coach Brian Daboll during the current campaign or the offseason.
However, the Giants' home losses to the Philadelphia Eagles (28-3) and Cincinnati Bengals (17-7) have left things looking dire. The Eagles sacked quarterback Daniel Jones seven times after he threw for a season-low 99 yards. Jones was then benched and Drew Lock came in to finish the game.
The next day, Daboll emphasized that Jones is still the starting quarterback in New York. Despite his dislike of being pulled, Jones met with Daboll as planned to discuss the game and specific areas for improvement.
.Despite rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers playing for the first time in three weeks after suffering a concussion, the Giants lost. In just five games this season, the rising star has 39 receptions for 427 yards and three touchdowns. Teammate Wan'Dale Robinson has 43 receptions for just 303 yards and two touchdowns, which puts him fifth in the league.
With nine sacks for 65 yards, Dexter Lawrence II, a member of the Giants, leads the league in sacks. T.J. Watt could feast on a New York O-line that has given up 22 sacks, which is third-most in the league. Watt has a team-high 4.5 sacks and three forced fumbles for the Steelers.

T.J. WATT OVER 0.5 SACKS
Watt “only” has 4.5 sacks this season, but he is one of the most feared pass rushers in the NFL. Tonight, he’ll go up against a Giants offensive line that has some serious issues. The Giants have allowed the fourth-most sacks in the league this year. Last week, Andrew Thomas was injured and without him, New York allowed a total of seven sacks. Thomas is out tonight and, because of that, we’ll play Watt to record at least one sack.
