This is it. National championship game. 8:50 ET tip. It's no surprise that either one of these teams is here. Florida marched to the title game with a few blowouts but also faced some adversity in a close win over UConn and a comeback win over Texas Tech. The Gators have an elite level offense led by guard Walter Clayton Jr. He has scored 20-plus points in 8 of his last 10 games.
The Gators also have an under-rated defense. Florida allows 68.2 points per game. On the other side, we all know that Houston has the best defense in the country. The Cougars hold opponents to 58.1 ppg. Houston has what I believe is an under-rated offense. The Cougars can really shoot the three. They are the nation's fourth-best team in terms of 3PT FG percentage.
The Gators are also an elite 3PT FG defense. They hold opponents under 30 percent shooting from behind the arc. Houston has been raining threes in the tournament and shot 42 percent from three in the win over Duke.
All that said, it's tough to pick a side here. So, I'll opt for Houston's team total. The Cougars have gone Over their team total in 6 of their last 8 games. Houston has found a way to get to 69 points in 6 of its last 7 games and in 13 of the 18 games in the Cougars current 18-game winning streak.
