TEMPLE @ UTSA (UTSA -16.5, 55.5)
UTSA TEAM TOTAL OVER 34.5
After a poor start to the 2024 season, UTSA has won 3 of its last 4 games and really could have won all four. The Roadrunners lost to Tulsa 46-45. The UTSA offense has come to life and is averaging 43.7 points over its last four games. Tonight, it should be more of the same.
Temple is 3-7 SU. All three of the Owls wins have come at home. They are 0-7 on the road. It's been so bad, the Owls fired their head coach Stanley Drayton. The Temple defense ranks 117th in points allowed per game this season - 35. Three of the last four teams UTSA has played rank right in the same vicinity - FAU (112th), North Texas (121st), and Tulsa (127th). This is a bad Temple defense that is playing a UTSA offense that is peaking at the right time.
PURDUE @ MICHIGAN STATE (MSU -13.5, 49)
UNDER 49
If you have followed Coach Rick throughout the CFB season, you know that he has a quarterback at Purdue. The Coach has wanted the Boilermakers to succeed, but they are a lost cause. The defense is football's version of raw sewage. The offense? Rotting garbage.
Purdue has scored 10 points or fewer in 6 of 9 games against FBS opponents. The Boilermakers rank 129th in scoring, averaging 17.2 points per game. Michigan State isn't much better. QB Aidan Chiles is a turnover machine. The Spartans average 19.2 points a game.
What's interesting is Power 4 conference games not played on a Saturday trend Under. Over the past two decades, 56 percent of those games have gone Under the total. This season, the Under is 12-9 in such games. Both teams have trended Over - 10 of the last 15 for Purdue and 4 of the last 5 for MSU all Over the total. But, that has been a factor of Purdue's and Michigan State's opponents, not either team's "prolific" scoring.
WISCONSIN vs. UCF (WIS -5, 148.5)
WISCONSIN -5
It's the Greenbrier Tip-Off in West Virginia. Both Wisconsin and UCF are unbeaten to start the new season. Each team has a quality upset in their first four or five games. UCF upset No. 23 Texas A&M in their season opener. Wisconsin hung a hundo on No. 17 Arizona last week. The Badgers won 103-88.
UCF will have its hands full with Missouri transfer John Tonje. He had 41 points in the win over Arizona. Wisconsin won that game as a 4.5-point underdog. The Badgers have won 7 of their last 8 as a favorite and they have covered in 8 of their last 12. UCF is 2-2 ATS to start this season. They will be without their best player, Jaylin Sellers, which will make a difference.
