JACKSONVILLE STATE @ LIBERTY (LIB -2.5, 63)
QUINTON COOLEY 80+ RUSHING YARDS
Liberty was upset last week by Kennesaw State. Now, they face the powerful rushing attack of Jacksonville State. In their last four games, the Gamecocks have averaged over 350 rushing yards and 50 points per game. The issue for JSU tonight is QB Tyler Huff. He was injured in last week's win over Middle Tennessee and it's unclear whether or not he will play.
I would think Liberty bounces back from last week's upset loss, but the Flames have been playing poorly. The matchup that I do like is Liberty's offense against Jacksonville State's defense. Liberty is 11th in the nation in rushing averaging over 211 yards per game. They are led by senior RB Quinton Cooley who averages 97 yards per game.
JSU's run defense allows over 179 rushing yards per game. New Mexico State and Kennesaw State averaged 197.5 rushing yards against the Gamecocks. Both of those teams are among the worst in the nation. I think Cooley hits this number as he has in two of his last three games.
LA DODGERS @ NY YANKEES (NYY -150, 8.5)
JACK FLAHERTY OVER 2.5 EARNED RUNS
It's Game 5 of the World Series. It's a repeat of Game 1. Jack Flaherty starts for the Dodgers against Gerrit Cole of the Yankees. Flaherty pitched Game 1 of this series and went 5.1 innings, allowing 2 ER. In the NLCS, Flaherty also pitched Game 1. He went 7 innings and didn't allow a run.
Flaherty came back to pitch Game 5 of the NLCS against the Mets. In that game, he got tagged for 8 ER in just 3 innings. I think we'll see a similar outcome tonight, though not as bad as the NLCS Game 5. After last night, the Yankees can definitely get to Flaherty early in this game.
LA LAKERS @ CLEVELAND (CLE -5, 224.5
CAVS -5
The Cavs are off to a 4-0 start this season. They have also covered in all four games. The Lakers are 3-1 and Anthony Davis is tearing it up. Tonight, he'll go up against Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, who can neutralize Davis.
The Lakers have been shooting over 40 percent from three-point range and that is likely to regress. Their transition defense has been terrible and they'll face a Cavs team that is the second-best team in the East. Cleveland ranks in the top 3 in scoring, FG percentage and three-point FG percentage. The Cavs are No. 4 in defensive rating too.
Los Angeles is coming off a tough loss to Phoenix. The Cavs catch the Lakers at home and shouldn't have a problem covering this one.
