SOUTH FLORIDA @ FAU (USF -2.5, 47)
SOUTH FLORIDA -2.5
USF's offense has been limited recently. They lost three straight games scoring 15, 10, and 3 points before beating UAB 35-25 last week. The problem for the Bulls has been QB Byrum Brown. He's been out for a month and the word is that he will be a game-time decision tonight. The Bulls offense is completely different with Brown running the show.
FAU hasn't won a conference game yet and their defense has been horrendous. The Owls have given up 38 and 41 points in their last two games. The pass defense is not good and that's where South Florida makes it happen. The Bulls love to throw the ball. They average 35 pass attempts per game.
The issue, of course, is Brown. If he plays, I really like South Florida. If he doesn't...not so much. I'll back the Bulls -2.5 if Brown plays, but I'll stay away if he doesn't.
SAN DIEGO STATE @ BOISE STATE (BSU -23.5, 57)
ASHTON JEANTY OVER 182.5 RUSHING YARDS
Boise State looks to continue its runs toward a Mountain West Conference title and a berth in the new 12-team College Football Playoff. San Diego State is just 3-4 overall, but the Aztecs are 2-0 in conference play. Last week, SDSU blew a 12-point, fourth-quarter lead against Washington State. This week, they'll have to contend with the nation's leading rusher Ashton Jeanty.
Jeanty averages 196.6 yards per game and has scored 18 touchdowns. He's the favorite to win the Heisman Trophy and he'll go up against a run defense tonight that is sketchy at best. San Diego State ranks 92nd in the FBS in rushing yards allowed per game. The Aztecs offense is even worse. They struggle to finish drives and rank in the bottom 30 in the country in both Rush and Pass Success Rate.
That should mean plenty of opportunities for Jeanty. After 128 yards in last week's win over UNLV, I like Jeanty to bounce back at home. He has three 200-yard games and he's hit 186 or more yards in 5 of his 8 this season.
LA LAKERS @ TORONTO (LAL -9.5, 229)
RAPTORS +9.5
The Raptors will continue to be without Scottie Barnes who is out with an orbital fracture. Toronto will also not have Kelly Olynyk or Bruce Brown and Immanuel Quickley is listed as doubtful for tonight. Still, the Raptors continue to compete and play hard. They got R.J. Barrett back this week. He scored 20 points on Monday night and 31 on Wednesday. The Raptors lost both games, but they have covered four straight.
The Lakers are on the second leg of a four-game road trip. The road trip started in Cleveland on Wednesday night where the Lakers got pounded by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Toronto will fight and scratch to keep this one within 10. Don't forget, the Raptors are 5-1 ATS in their last six games.
