DETROIT @ KANSAS CITY (KC -162, 8)
ROYALS ML
The Tigers won last night 7-6 over the Royals. Since August 10, Detroit is 23-10 and is still has a shot at the American League's final wild card spot. Tonight, the Royals will have the pitching advantage with Cole Ragans taking on Casey Mize. Ragans is 11-9 with a 3.38 ERA this season. His last two starts were both quality starts. In two starts against Detroit this season, Ragans is 2-0 with a 1.54 ERA.
Mize hasn't been the same since returning from injury this year. He is 2-6 with a 4.47 ERA. That ERA spikes to over 5.00 (5.05) when Mize pitches on the road. In two starts against Kansas City this season, Mize gave up 9 total runs in just 6.2 innings of work.
Kansas City has been outstanding at home this season. They are 45-31 at Kauffman Stadium in 2024 and they've won 4 of their last 5 there. The Royals are also 6-2 in their last 8 games against the Tigers.
PHILADELPHIA @ MILWAUKEE (PHI -142, 7.5)
PHILLIES ML
The Phillies lost Game 1 of this series last night. Tonight, they will have Zack Wheeler on the mound. He is 15-6 with a 2.60 ERA this season. He's second in the National League in wins and ERA behind Atlanta's Chris Sale. Wheeler has allowed 2 ER or less in his last 8 straight starts. Philly is 6-2 in those games and has won Wheeler's last four starts in a row.
Frankie Montas starts for Milwaukee. Since being acquired by the Brewers, Montas is 3-2 with a 3.40 ERA. Overall though, he is 7-10 with a 4.49 ERA. Philadelphia ranks in the top ten in OPS and ISO against RHP over the last 30 days. Bryce Harper (.376 over last 23 games) and Kyle Schwarber (.378, 7 HR over last 12 games) have been lighting it up recently. That's why Philadelphia is 11-4 in its last 15 games. The Phillies are also 4-1 in the last five against Milwaukee.
NY YANKEES @ SEATTLE (NYY -122, 7)
F5 UNDER 4.5
The pitching matchup is a great one in this game tonight. Luis Gil goes up against Bryan Woo. Gil is 13-6 with a 3.18 ERA for the Yankees. Tonight will be Gil's third start since returning to the rotation after a back strain. In his first two starts back, Gil pitched a total of 11 innings, allowed just 1 ER, struck out 12, and the Yankees won both games.
Woo is 8-2 with a 2.38 ERA this season. He is at his best when pitching at home where he is 5-0 with a 1.66 ERA. Woo has allowed 2 ER or fewer in 8 of his last 10 starts. Both of these guys are among the most profitable F5 pitchers in baseball. Gil is 15-5-4 on the F5 moneyline this season. Woo is 11-2-4. I like both of these guys to take care of business early tonight and keep this F5 total Under 4.5.
