SAN FRANCISCO @ SEATTLE (SF -3.5, 49.5)
49ERS (1H) -2.5
San Francisco has dominated Seattle lately. The 49ers have won five straight over the Seahawks and they won four of those games by double digits. Favorites and road teams have the advantage in divisional matchups when both teams are on short rest. Favorites are 98-79-5 ATS while road teams are 99-77-5 ATS over the last 20 years.
San Francisco has started strong in all but one of its games this season. The Niners average 16 first-half points and they have a first half scoring margin of 8 points. Seattle is just 1-5-1 ATS in its last seven games and the Seahawks failed to cover the first half spread in each of their last two games. Brock Purdy and company will take care of business early.
NY YANKEES @ KANSAS CITY (NYY -155, 7.5)
OVER 7.5
Gerrit Cole takes on Michael Wacha. It's the same pitching matchup as Game 1 of this series. That one ended up 6-5 in favor of the Yankees. Neither pitcher had a great outing in that one. Cole gave up 3 ER in 5 IP. Wacha allowed 3 ER in 4 IP. Wacha also walked 3 batters.
Last night, Kansas City pitchers walked 9 Yankees batters. New York didn't take full advantage but did win last night 3-2. The Yankees are up 2-1 in the best-of-five series. Tonight, I don't think the Yankees will pass up any opportunities to close out this series.
New York is one of the top-scoring road teams in MLB this season. The Yankees averaged 5.23 runs per game on the road this season. On the other end, Kansas City was one of the top-scoring home teams, averaging 4.72 runs per game at Kauffman Stadium. With these two starting pitchers, I think we see a repeat of Game 1.
UTEP @ WESTERN KENTUCKY (WKU -19.5, 57)
WESTERN KENTUCKY -19.5
UTEP is 0-5 this season. The Miners offense is a complete disaster. They rank outside the Top 100 in Pass Success Rate and Run Success Rate. They are 117th in total offense and 126th in scoring. I could keep going, but in the essence of time, just know that UTEP is bad.
Western Kentucky, on the other hand, is pretty good. The Hilltoppers are coming off a game against Power 4 Boston College. WKU had every opportunity to win but fell short 21-20. The Hilltoppers are now 6-2 SU in their last 8 games overall. They are 7-2 SU in their last 9 at home. WKU is also 6-1 ATS in its last 7 games, covering two double-digit spreads among those seven. It's a big number, but I think Western Kentucky can pull away in the second half.
