ROCKETS @ WARRIORS 4/28/25
Without Jimmy Butler, the Golden State Warriors made it through one postseason game. On Monday night, they are hoping he won't be a spectator again. When Golden State hosts the Houston Rockets in Game 4 at San Francisco, they will find out before tipoff whether they will have their star forward.
After suffering a pelvic injury in Game 2 on Wednesday, Butler, who is listed as questionable, missed Saturday's 104-93 victory over the Rockets at home. Coach Steve Kerr of the Warriors is still unsure if Butler will play when his team tries to increase its lead to 3-1 in the best-of-seven series.
In Game 1, Golden State won 95-85 on the road thanks to Butler's 25 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and five steals. On Saturday, veteran Stephen Curry led the Warriors back from a 13-point deficit to record a crucial victory while Butler watched from the bench.
With 36 points, Curry moved up to 10th place with 4,053 points on the NBA's all-time postseason scoring list. He overtook Tony Parker, former star for the San Antonio Spurs (4,045). Curry's strong all-around performance included nine assists and seven rebounds.
In the win, Golden State also got 42 points from their bench. Gary Payton II scored 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting, while Buddy Hield added 17.
Houston is kicking itself for squandering a fantastic opportunity. Before Golden State stepped up and outscored Houston 35–22 in the pivotal fourth quarter, the Rockets led 71–69 at the start of the quarter.
Fred VanVleet was one of the Houston backcourt players who couldn't stop Curry, who scored 21 points in the second half. Curry has made 14-of-31 three-point attempts in the series and is averaging 29 points, seven assists, and six rebounds per game.
Jalen Green, a guard for the Rockets, was unable to build on his impressive 38-point performance in Game 2. In his second lackluster performance of the series, he only managed nine points as he hit just 4-of-11 shots. In Houston's Game 1 defeat, Green scored seven points on 3-of-15 shooting.
Throughout the series, Alperen Sengun leads Houston with averages of 19.3 points and 12 rebounds per game. Green is averaging 18 points a game. VanVleet is shooting only 26.8 percent (11 of 41) while averaging 11.3 points.
